The Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers presented the results of their Measuring The Monument project to the Willen Church Hooke Heritage Society on 19 September 2025.
The work was one of a series of experiments undertaken as part of the Connect to Prosper theme of the 2023-24 Lord Mayor, Michael Mainelli. The presentation took place within the walls of Robert Hooke’s last surviving church. Included in the audience were Jacky Scott, who chairs the Heritage Society, Dame Ann Limb, DBE, DL, Emily Darlington, MP, Pippa Kirkbride, High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire and Sir Francis Hapgood, Vice Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, as well as eminent and distinguished guests representing the county and universities nearby. Hon Liveryman, Michael Mainelli, Past Master Ken Grattan, Court Assistant Elisabeth Jarvis, Liveryman Enrique Gaztanaga and Past Master Philip Thomas are currently writing up a paper for publication.“
