Mr J C Webster newly installed Master, assisted by the new Senior Warden Mrs J E Fishwick and the new Junior Warden Prof. S A O’Connor, hosted the Admission Court Dinner of the Scientific Instrument Makers’ Company held in Glaziers’ Hall on 17 October 2024.
The principal guest and speaker was Martin Vander Weyer. HRH Prince Michael of Kent, a longstanding Liveryman of the company, was also present. The response on behalf of newly admitted members was given by Freeman S Hopkins. The toast to the Immortal Memory was given by Cadet E Donkor-Arthur of Southwark Sea Cadets, T/S Cossack.
The Junior Warden and the Master also spoke.
The Deputy Master, A Dunford presented the Company’s prizes to military award winners Acting Flight Sergeant A Jackson, LCpl R Berry RE, AB K McPhee, Lt D Nelson RN and Cadet E Donkor-Arthur, Southwark Sea Cadets. As well as recognising the Cornish Award winners Prof A Kovacevic and Dr W Milligan. The joint WCSIM/IPEM essay prizes for 2024 went to Dr A Wang.
The Masters of the Worshipful Companies of Gunmakers, Founders, Information Technologists and Tax Advisors and their Clerks attended together with representatives from the InstMC, STEMPOINT, The Royal School of Military Survey, Royal Navy Hydrographic School, RAF Cosford and the Sea Cadets.
