The Four Liveries Lecture took place on Monday 21 September with members from The Lightmongers, The Clockmakers and The Spectacle Makers joining us.
It was a hugely informative and interesting lecture presented by Liverymen Kevin Gallagher and Nigel Davies. Well over 100 individuals from the four Livery Companies joined together for the webinar.
We are immensely grateful to both Kevin and Nigel for delivering such a fascinating and informative Lecture and rising to the challenge of delivering it remotely!
If you missed it, or simply want to watch it again (you will need the passcode 4yL9f#M6), or you can find it on the Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers Facebook page.
The Lecture itself was not charged for but the two presenters asked for donations to be made to ‘Second Sight’. This UK registered Charity, set up by a London ophthalmologist, works in the poorest state in India. To retain local surgeons in rural areas, the charity’s experienced clinicians deliver on-site training. 100% of donations fund cataract operations on people who are completely blind from the condition.
To date this small charity has restored sight to well over 450,000 blind people and prevented blindness in countless others. In addition, in every quadrant of Bihar state, the charity has helped establish community eye hospitals that will be self-sufficient and sustainable over the next few years thus providing a long-term solution to eye services for the rural population.
If you wish to make a donation to this charity please visit their website for more information.
