The Bristol SIM Hub met on the 27th of October for a tour of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Bristol.
The morning session took place in the Interface Analysis Centre, where members explored a range of advanced surface science instrumentation. Highlights included scanning electron microscopes, a high-speed atomic force microscope, Raman spectrometers, and thin-film deposition systems.
In the afternoon, the group visited the School of Civil, Aerospace and Design Engineering, along with the School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering. The tour showcased cutting-edge research in areas such as battery innovation, non-destructive ultrasonic testing, drone development, earthquake simulation, and aerodynamic testing within the University’s anechoic wind tunnels.
We are very grateful to the University of Bristol’s academics, postdoctoral researchers, and PhD students for making it such an engaging and informative day.
