British Cyber Security Startup, founded by Freeman Daniel Saul, Conquers Spanish Innovation Competition
British cyber security start-up Risk Ledger has been announced as the winner of the South Summit Industry 4.0 Competition hosted virtually in Madrid on Thursday. The company pitched their supply chain cyber security risk management platform to a judging panel of senior corporate managers and investors from Spain and beyond in the finals with four other international start-ups.
Ex Apprentice, and now Freeman Daniel Saul founded Risk Ledger in 2018 with colleague, Haydn Brook and these two Co-Founders of Risk Ledger were named on the Forbes 30 under 30 Europe list of business leaders to watch in 2019.
The South Summit ecosystem and start-up competitions attract thousands of participants every year and it is the biggest of its kind in southern Europe. The Industry 4.0 start-up competition is run by South Summit in Collaboration with IE University. By winning, Risk Ledger will be fast-tracked into the main South Summit Competition in October 2021.
The Risk Ledger platform gives organisations all the tools they need to run a cyber security-led third-party risk management programme at scale and at speed for a low per-supplier cost. Their key innovation is that the platform operates like a secure social network for organisations and their suppliers to connect and share risk data securely and easily – collaborating to minimise and mitigate identified risks. Despite being a young start-up, Risk Ledger’s clients already include names like ASOS, BAE, Telenor, Schroder’s Personal Wealth and Scottish Gas Networks. The company is a member of the UK Government backed LORCA programme (London Office of Rapid Cybersecurity Advancement).
Daniel said, “It is an honour to be recognised by the group of corporate leaders on the judging panel. We have won cyber security focused competitions run by the UK National Cyber Security Centre and TechUK before but I am really excited that despite the judging panel and the competition including a much broader range of industries, our innovation was understood, recognised and chosen out of all the amazing competitors.
Risk Ledger has also recently been nominated as a Finalist in the UK Water Industry Awards in the category of ‘Most Innovative New Technology of the Year’. The final of this competition is on 27 May. Risk Ledger has already been adopted by 20% of the UK water industry.
Interestingly, the City of London is also a big client of Risk Ledger. The company has a great recommendation letter about supplying “The Mayor and Commonality and Citizens of the City of London”.
