Matt Kibble (French Horn) & Central Band of the Royal British Legion

Freeman Matt Kibble – good news stories

1) While I was not selected as Beloe Fellow, I have been awarded a Beloe Scholarship and will be presenting my spine bioengineering & biomechanics research at next year’s SIMposium as a consequence. The panel were exceptionally kind and encouraging and my thanks go to you all.
2) The primary output from my research into human organ bioprinting has just been accepted by a major publication, Acta Biomaterialia. The Manchester University press office have just run a feature and we hope for national coverage.
The pre-proof can be accessed here: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.actbio.2025.05.015
3) On Monday 5th May, I appeared in a live performance on the One Show as part of the BBC’s VE80 programming, playing alongside other members of the Central Band of the Royal British Legion on the French Horn. The program can be rewatched on BBC iPlayer. Something different from the usual!

Manchester SIM Hub Liverpool World Museums Visit

On Monday, 31st March, the Manchester SIM Hub visited the World Museum Liverpool for a guided tour led by three expert curators: Alan, Wendy, Emma and PhD student Sabrina. Their deep knowledge and enthusiasm brought the museum’s collections to life as we explored Liverpool’s rich heritage in scientific instrumentation, horology, and the astronomy. We even had the opportunity to review some of the artefacts up close during the afternoon session.

Thank you again to the museum team for a superb visit.

Many thanks Sam White
