Mr Aubrey Dunford newly installed Master, assisted by the new Senior Warden Mr Jim Webster and the new Junior Warden Mrs Jane Fishwick, hosted the Admission Court Dinner of the Scientific Instrument Makers’ Company held in Scientific Instrument Makers’ Hall on 19 October 2023.
Prior to the dinner the following new members were admitted: Prof. Michael Mainelli as an Honoray Liveryman; Peter Clague, Callum Stirling, Malcolm George and Simon Moore as Liverymen; Ronan Battle and Meng Wu as Freemen and Benjamin Sindall, Sourish Sharma and Youssef Tazouti as Apprentices.
The principal guest and speaker was Prof David Stupples. The toast to the Immortal Memory was given by Cadet N Ribiero of Southwark Sea Cadets, T/S Cossack.
The Junior Warden and the Master also spoke.
The Deputy Master, Prof Philip Thomas presented the Company’s prizes to military award winners Major G Gibson MBE, Lt M Richardson RN, Lance Corporal P Fairnington, Leading Hand S Perrin, Chief Technician E Morgan and Cadet N Ribiero, Southwark Sea Cadets. Past Master Mr K Sanders presented the joint WCSIM/IPEM essay prizes for 2023 to Ms H Chamberlain.
The Masters of the Worshipful Companies of Engineers, Information Technologists and Tax Advisors attended together with representatives from the Royal School of Military Survey, Royal Navy Hydrographic School, RAF Cosford and the Sea Cadets.
